Judge Lynne Callahan is currently judge of the Akron Municipal
Court, where she has handled thousands of cases over the last eleven years.
Her reputation for excellence and strong work ethic have earned Judge
Callahan the highest possible rating for judges from the Akron Bar
Association--"highly recommended" as well as endorsements by police, labor

and newspapers. Judge Callahan is now seeking to take her experience to the

Summit County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Callahan graduated from the University of Akron where she
received the University's prestigious "Outstanding Senior Woman" award in
1979. She went on to the University of Akron School of Law where she was a
member of both the Mock Trial and Moot Court teams and was published in the
Akron Law Review.

Following law school and her admission to the bar, Judge Callahan
took her career in a different direction--she joined the Akron Police
Department where she served the community for five years as a police officer
and detective.  That "real world" experience  has served her well on the
bench.

Judge Callahan was hired by Summit County Prosecutor Lynn Slaby in
1989 and served as an Assistant Summit County Prosecutor where she
prosecuted thousands of felonies, including murder, rape, child abuse and
drug trafficking. She was appointed to a special state-wide task force to
prosecute child-abuse cases across the State of Ohio.

In 1994 Judge Callahan joined the Law firm of Davis & Young, where
she remained until her appointment to the Akron Municipal Court bench on May
1, 1997.  Judge Callahan was elected to the Akron Municipal Court bench in
November, 1997 and re-elected in November, 2003. She has twice been elected
presiding judge by her colleagues.

Shortly after taking the bench Judge Callahan became involved in the
planning process for the Akron Municipal Court's Family Violence Court. She
has presided over that court since its inception in April, 1998. The Family
Violence Court is an innovative domestic violence court that targets
first-time offenders. The program remains the only one of its kind in the
State of Ohio and was awarded the Ohio Department of Corrections  Director's
Award for Criminal Justice in 2000 and the American Correctional
Association's Exemplary Program award in 2002.

Judge Callahan has been selected to serve as an instructor at the
Supreme Court of Ohio's Judicial College where she has taught other judges
trial skills and domestic violence laws. She has frequently spoken to groups
around the state about domestic violence.

Judge Callahan currently sits on the Summit County Criminal Justice
Advisory Board and serves on the Community Health Center Foundation Board.
She has served on numerous other boards during her professional career and
has frequently served the citizens of Summit County through her volunteer
work.  She especially enjoys her work as coach of a mock trial team
comprised of middle school students. Judge Callahan's work on the bench and
in the community have been recognized by her being awarded the Urban Light
Award for Public Service.

Judge Callahan is a lifetime resident of Summit County and is
married with three children.
